Should I quit my sport to focus on school?
Rhema Adelaja · National Champion & 4x DUX
This is your decision, made with the people who support you. Before you decide, check whether the problem is the sport or the system around it. Look at your whole week, find the exact leak and fix that first. Stepping back is still allowed if it is right for you.
The answer
- Write down why you are thinking about it: grades, tiredness, enjoyment, pressure, time.
- Put school, training, sleep and everything fixed in one calendar.
- Ask where the week leaks. Fix that one place first.
- Try the change for a set period you choose, then review.
- Ask for help early: a parent, a coach, a teacher.
- If the sport itself makes you unhappy or anxious, tell a trusted adult. Stepping back can be a real choice.
