How do I stop my phone distracting me?
Rhema Adelaja · National Champion & 4x DUX
Put your phone in another room while you study. A phone within reach can pull your attention. Book study as named blocks, use the phone as your break, and make the right action easy so you do not rely on willpower.
The answer
- Plan the block first, for example "Maths, 7:00 to 7:45".
- Put the phone in another room before you start.
- Use timed blocks. Rhema uses 50 minutes on and 10 minutes off after training.
- Use the break for the phone, not the block.
- Tell friends when you are studying.
- If you cannot put it down even when you try, tell a trusted adult.
