Time & Structure

How do I stop competitions and deadlines landing in the same week?

Rhema Adelaja · National Champion & 4x DUX

Put every competition, deadline and exam on one timeline. When both sides of your life are in one view, you can see a clash early enough to move work.

The answer

  1. Test yourself: you know how many days until your next competition. Do you know how many days until your next big submission?
  2. List every competition, assessment due date and exam.
  3. Put them all in one calendar, in one view, not two separate lists.
  4. Look for weeks where both are heavy, and move work earlier or warn your teacher or coach before the week arrives.
