How Do I Stay Motivated When I Train Alone?
Rhema Adelaja · National Champion & 4x DUX
Do not wait for motivation. Book each solo session in your calendar as a named block, keep one spare day for disruptions, and give yourself someone to answer to, such as a teammate or an online group. Log every session, then ask once a week where the week leaked.
The answer
- Do not wait for motivation. Motivation disappears; a clear structure can still carry you.
- Decide how many days a week you will train and book each one as a named block, for example "Strength session, 4:30 to 5:30", not "when I have time". Keep one spare day for when life disrupts the plan.
- Give yourself someone to answer to: a teammate, a local group or an online group.
- Keep a training log so you can see your progress.
- Set a specific target, such as a skill you want to learn or a competition date.
- Pick a reward for hitting your weekly target.
- Once a week, ask "where did the week leak?" and fix that one place first.
- Ask for support before the system collapses. Share your log with a coach or a teammate.
