How Do I Show My Sport on a Resume or CV?
Rhema Adelaja · National Champion & 4x DUX
Do not just list your team. Open your calendar and write what your week actually demanded: training hours, school, deadlines, travel. Turn each into one plain line with a number. You do not need to be captain. Show what you did, not just that you took part.
The answer
- Open your calendar. List your real week: training hours, competitions, school load and travel.
- Next to each one, name the skill it needed: time management, discipline, teamwork or accountability.
- Write each as what you did, with a number. Example: "Balanced [your hours] hours of training a week with a full school load." Use your own numbers.
- Show teamwork without a title. Say how you supported teammates, held a standard respectfully, or followed through after feedback.
- Choose the skills that match the role or course you are applying for. Leave the rest out.
- Ask a teacher or coach to read it and tell you what is unclear. Asking for help is not weakness.
- Update the list at the end of every season, while you still remember the details.
