Time & Structure

How do I make a study schedule during the season?

Rhema Adelaja · National Champion & 4x DUX

Build your study schedule from the fixed parts of your week outward. Put school, training, competitions and sleep in first, then fit study blocks into the gaps and set a hard stop time so homework does not cut into your sleep.

The answer

  1. Put every fixed commitment in one calendar (classes, training, matches, travel, meals). Colour-code school and sport.
  2. Add sleep before you add study. Pick a fixed bedtime and work backward.
  3. Book study as named blocks, like "Maths, 7:00 to 7:45", not "when I have time".
  4. Use the small gaps: 15 to 20 minutes on the bus or before practice.
  5. Set a hard stop for homework. If something does not fit, decide what moves to tomorrow.
  6. Schedule one thing you enjoy each week and treat it like training.
  7. Warn teachers and coaches early about heavy weeks.
