Training & Habits
How do I arrive ready to train after a day at school?
Rhema Adelaja · National Champion & 4x DUX
Do a short routine of your own before the team warm-up. About ten minutes in three parts: raise your temperature, move your joints, then wake up the muscles you are about to use.
The answer
- Raise your temperature (2 to 3 minutes): easy jogging, skipping, jumping jacks or gentle cycling. It should feel easy, not tiring.
- Mobilise your joints (4 to 5 minutes): controlled leg swings, arm circles, hip circles and torso twists, focused on what your sport needs.
- Activate key muscles (2 to 3 minutes): do movements that copy what you are about to do in training.
- Make it a habit: pack your bag the night before, plan the exact routine before you arrive, and start ten minutes early.
- This week, pick one exercise for each part, write them down, and do them before your next three sessions.
