Time and Structure

How can I help my athlete without nagging?

Rhema Adelaja · National Champion & 4x DUX

Swap reminders for a system. Sit down together and agree on one shared calendar and one short weekly check-in, then let the calendar do the reminding. Ask questions instead of giving orders, and step back when the plan is working.

The answer

  1. Ask your athlete to build their week in one calendar, with you helping.
  2. Agree that the calendar is the reminder, not you.
  3. Hold one short weekly check-in with one question: where did the week leak? Let your athlete answer first.
  4. Ask, do not tell: "What do you need from me this week?"
  5. Notice effort and process, not only results.
  6. When it is working, step back.
